Madonna: Borderline (1984)

Check out the new page for Madonna's Borderline at Set-Jetter.com

ORIGINAL POST:

If you know me, then you know I have two great loves... movie/tv locations and Madonna.   Every once a while, I combine them both.  This post was updated in February 2015 with new locations.

Here are links to other Madonna video or movie locations and shows:
   Borderline
Evening With Madonna - Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project
   GAP commercial
   La Isla Bonita
   Like A Prayer (video)
   Like A Prayer (album)
   Material Girl
   Music
   Next Best Thing
What It Feels Like For A Girl
   Who's That Girl

Below are some locations for her Borderline video.   First up is the beginning location under the bridge....

The same bridge in the background is where he walks down the stairs as well as the spot where the guy is watching from the top....

We're going to skip over to pool hall location, which has unfortunately been torn down, but this is the corner where it was located....

The building next to it is still there, but slightly renovated...

The buildings across the street are still there, however...

On my last trip, I had tracked down the exterior of the photographer's studio located here....

With VERY good luck, the owner let me photograph the inside of the studio where the video was shot!   The layout is the same, however the stairs have had some updates...

  1. The pool hall/restaurant was El Guanaco. It was not on Lucas and 6th. It was on 6th and Alameda. A friend of mine's mother worked there. I remember seeing the video and recognizing the location because I passed it daily on the bus. It was torn down years ago and is now used for parking. The building next door is still there.

  3. Great pick ups. I've been up to pretty much the same recently looking for these locations but on google street view as I'm in Australia. I have found all of theses except for the studio...well done there. I'm still a little puzzled with the final night street scenes as the facades of the buildings seem inconsistent between shoots leading me to believe that they were shot at different locations. There is a Hotel Martinez in one of these shots...if someone recalls where this hotel was located back then it might give a few clues.

  8. Sure, but I'm in the process of converting my photos over to my new website.

If you want to maybe to the Herb Ritts/Blond Ambition and Like A Prayer ones first, that would be great. Here are the links:
