Check out the all new COBRA page at SET-JETTER.COM
They don't make 'em like this anymore, do they? Since I was going to be visiting Piru, I thought I would check out some other locations for Sylvester Stallone's violent vehicle, Cobra.
First up, the opening scene in the grocery store...
Screenshots....
Next up, the gas station stop, a location used in many films, my favorite being Friday the 13th Part V, of course....

The next series is locations shot up in Piru, California. A very small town that is featured in lots of films (Twilight Zone: The Movie, True Blood, Big Mama's House, Return of the Living Dead Part II, Dark Night of The Scarecrow, etc.)....
The old bridge into town....

The church...

The police station...

This is the spot where the motel was located. I'm not sure if it ever existed or was just built for the movie....
Screenshots...
And the stretch of road where the car chase/shootout took place. Of course in the movie it takes several minutes to go down this road, while in reality it would only take 60 seconds...

UPDATE November 2013: While on my latest trip I decided to stop by a few more locations. Here is one of the Venice canals bridge seen in the film...

UPDATE November 2013: And the apartment seen in the film...

I visited rocky locations in 2012. Now I would like to visit Cobra locations. Could you share the address with other fans ?

Sure thing, the store is at 2727 Manhattan Beach Boulevard in Redondo Beach. The apartment is at 5 Westminster Avenue in Venice. The small town seen in the film where the motel is Piru, California.
DeleteBrilliant research! love this film.
ReplyDeleteDo you know where the car park is in the scene at night where the song angel of the city starts to play
I would love to know this location also?
DeleteThat scene was filmed on the car park that used to be on the lot directly across from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, where the Walt Disney Concert Hall is today, on First St, downtown Los Angeles. In the shots of Stallone you can see the Department of Water and Power building behind him, to the north.
DeleteThe Venice apartment was also used as Timothy Hutton's character Christopher Boyce's apartment in John Schlesinger's 1985 film "The Falcon and The Snowman" :)
