Check out the all new entry for Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2 at Set-Jetter.com!
Before last year, my familiarity with the Silent Night, Deadly Night series was only with the first two films. After deciding to research and visit filming locations for Part 2, in particular the Garbage Day scene, I thought I should check out the whole series. The original was shot in Utah, the rest in Southern California, so here you go...
Silent Night Deadly Night
Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2
Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 3: Better Watch Out
Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 4:Initiation
Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 5: The Toy Maker
So here we go. I never thought too much about doing locations for this series until I got fixated on finding the "Garbage Day" street, which lead to finding the other locations for the film as well as the other ones in the series. We'll leave that particularly infamous scene until last though. First up is the City Hall scenes shot up in Sierra Madre....

Also up in Sierra Madre is the street where Ricky sees the nuns, here is the shot looking up the street...

And the shot looking down the street. This is on the main thoroughfare in Sierra Madre, right across the street from where they shot Halloween II, Halloween III, and the same street for Psycho III and The Fog....

Next up is the cemetery scene. Here is the shot from the back of the gravestone...

And the long shot of the cemetery scene. This is just a few steps away from Judith Myers grave in Halloween...

Next up is the "umbrella death" in the alley. The back of the restaurant that Ricky exits from has changed quite a bit, here is what it looks like today.

The rest of the alley looks the same except for the new foliage. This is right around the corner from the same street Ricky saw the nuns walking in Sierra Madre...

Next to the cemetery is a nice park where they shot the scene of Ricky & Jennifer meeting. Here is the shot looking back towards the mountains....

And Jennifer driving up the parking lot...

On their date, they ride into the Griffith Park tunnel...

Now we're going to skip ahead to the end so we can leave the Garbage Day scene until last. The mother superior house was the most difficult to find as there are not many clues, but I figured it had to be in Sierra Madre. Eventually I found it and here is how it looks today....

Now on to the Garbage Day scene. If you haven't seen it, here is a little snippet for your enjoyment:
There are many shots used, so I will do my best to balance them out. This area is just a street over from the cemetery. First up, Ricky & Jennifer walk by theses houses....

And see Chip working on his car here....

Screenshots....
A cop attempts to stop Ricky by this house...

Ricky continues his murder spree walking down the street...

An innocent neighbor his shot here...

I chatted with the owner of this house and showed him that his residence shows up in this classic film...

Here it is.... the poor neighbor taking out his garbage at the wrong time. Here is the infamous house....
