First, let's get a few of the original series locales out of the way. The biggie, of course, is the Bluth house. An actual home that is supposed to exist in the barren Sudden Valley development, I was most excited to finally visit this location!
Screenshots....
The Fisherman's Wharf stood in for the boardwalk of many scenes, including the site of the Bluth Banana Stand...
Screenshots...
The boat used in the pilot episode for George Bluth's retirement party is usually parked right outside....
Screenshots....
And the Culver City courthouse was also used numerous times...
Screenshots...
Also next to Culver Studios is the Culver Hotel, best remembered as the hotel in Under The Rainbow. It stood in for a couple different locations in the original series, most notably the Deliberations bar....
Screenshots....
Ok, on to season four! First up, the pre-credits logo is right outside of Culver City Studios...
Screenshots...
Next, many of the college scenes were shot at Occidental College, used extensively in Kicking and Screaming and Fired Up. First up is a quick shot of the "Phoenix" college screen....
Screenshot...
This particular stairway was also used in Kicking and Screaming. My shots were mostly of the reverse angle though....

Another establishing shot of the college...

The new Bluth home in the updated Sudden Valley area....

A long-range view....

It also represented the Phoenix airport...
Screenshots...
And the Indian airport baggage claim...
Screenshots....
And Indian airport exterior....
Screenshots...
The Century Plaza hotel represented... the Century Plaza hotel....
Screenshots...
Screenshots....
The restaurant where Michael and Rebel have a meet-cute....
Screenshots.....
And the bus stop across the street....
Screenshots....
Right in front of Culver Studios is the spot where Michael's new car takes down a banner....
Screenshots....
Also in front of the studio gate is the entrance to "Balboa Towers".....
Screenshot....
Also on the back entrance of the studio is a scene with Sally Sitwell....
Screenshots.....
Maeby's school was used a lot in the original series, but only once here...
Screenshot....
Also only used in establishing shots is this building, where the Bluths took refuge after Lucille nearly sank the Queen Mary....
Screenshot....
Next to it is the area where Gob went to hire some men by Dr. House Improvement Center....
Screenshots...
Next up is the Orange County Imaging building.....
Screenshots....
Just a couple blocks from the Orange County Imagine building....
Screenshots....
This is the same street at Steve Holt's pest patrol....
Screenshots....
Also in Culver City is Gob's entourage street....
Screenshots....
I couldn't get into this area since it's part of the studio, but you can see the reverse angle of scenes at the "back of the school" here....
Screenshots....
The intersection where Michael & Gob nearly crash into each other....
Screenshots....
The "Little Ball Room"....
Screenshot....
The "Faceblock" building....
Screenshots....
The Ealing Club....
Screenshots....
The realty company....
Screenshots....
Next up is the pool. Residents were there at the time, so I just took a few shots....
Screenshots...
Next to the pool is a small playground area featured in a scene....
Next up is a scene of George Michael leaving college... not at the Occidental location but at LA Center Studios.....
Screenshots...
Screenshots....
Some of you may know I own a couple different Arrested Development wardrobe/prop pieces.....
And some of the cast I have met....
Maddona choreographer, Jason Young, one of the sailors in the original series...
UPDATE: Thanks to http://filming.90210locations.info/, I was able to find a few more locations:
First up is the MethodOne clinic.....
Screenshots....
And Jeremy Piven club....
Screenshots....
Screenshots....
Marc Cherry's house....
Screenshots...
UPDATE June 2014: As I have time, I will add some more locations that I come across. First up is the scene where Lindsey drops Marky off at the Herbert Love event. I rarely fly through LAX, but when I did this past trip, I thought I'd stop by and grab some pics...
Screenshots...
And here is the "Attitude" menswear store where Gob shops. Sadly, the store is already gone and has been replaced....
Screenshot....
Great photos but you didnt name the locations (Bluth house, new Bluth house, etc). Thanks for updating.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what you mean as they were all clearly labeled...
Delete"The biggie, of course, is the Bluth house."
"The new Bluth home in the updated Sudden Valley area...."
the original Bluth house is based on a house located at 23155 Dolorosa Street Woodland Hills, California
DeleteWow you did some extensive research here. Kudos!!
ReplyDeleteWhat about the house Lindsay and Tobias live in with the NINJA loan??
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if that house has been found yet, not by me at least!
DeleteSome of the images of the courthouse shots you have above are incorrect. It was not always filmed in Culver City. You can spot an iconic 76 gas station with a curved rooftop in the background. That location would be the Beverly Hills Police department building. Maybe you can verify and update your images? Hope you are enjoying the latest season!
ReplyDeleteThanks, sorry I got that one wrong. As you can see, I had a very busy trip within a few days of that season being released so I was running around getting all I could. I did in fact do locations for the new season 5 and hope to get those published soon.
DeleteHello. Great seeing this. Wondering if you know where the prison scenes were filmed that had George Bluth in them? Thanks
ReplyDeleteNot sure about that one, it's been a while since I revsited the original series.
