Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
One of John Carpenter's first films, Assault on Precinct 13, was supposed to take place at an isolated police station. In real-life, this building is situated on a busy street in Venice Beach.
Any idea on the other locations. I've looked around Watts for the area of the ice cream truck slaying but dont really feel comfortable toodlin around Watts!
Yes, the ice cream truck scene was around South Berendo Avenue, between 117th and 115th. Except for a few buildings, the freeway is in place of the actual location but you can recognize some of the surroundings.
I posted the location on imdb of the parking lot across from the police station. Its on Ventura Blvd between Fruitland & Riverton Ave. Im still searching for the area where the gang loads up in the car next to an abandoned apartment. My guess is it's gone. Also, Austin Stoker's house. John Carpenter said it was off of Hollywood Blvd.
