Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

Check out the all new HALLOWEEN 6 page at SET-JETTER.COM

With 2013 being the 35th anniversary of my all time favorite, Halloween, I wanted to update my filming locations for the series, which have been scattered throughout my blog.  I will update these pages as I add new locations and cast or crew.

One of my favorite films in the series is the underrated sixth entry, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.   This one captured the tone of the original and was released just before the new self-aware horror films took off after Scream.  Shot mostly in Salt Lake City with some reshoots in LA, I visited a few of the Utah locations in 2008 while I was in the area for the Sundance Film Festival.

First up is the new Myers house.   Although still not a ringer for the house used in the original film, its miles ahead of the one the used in Part 5.

Right across the street is Mrs. Blankenship's house where Tommy Doyle, now played by Paul Rudd, lives in the upstairs bedroom...

The college used has changed quite a bit, so there is not much to match up here.  Plus I came in the middle of winter, so it's definitely missing that fall look...

For the dedicate fans, you know this building (also used in Halloween 4) was used as an establishing shot for Smiths Grove....

However, for the reshoots in LA, this building entrance was used for Smiths Grove....

Throughout my travels, I have gone to some horror movie conventions and specifically the Halloween ones.  Below are some of the cast I have met over the years....

I love Tom Proctor who had only one brief scene in the movie, but re-enacted the whole thing on stage...

And here is his "head" on the left....

Mrs. Blankenship, played by Janice Kneckrehm...

John Strode, played by Bradford English....

His pre-exploded head!

JC Brandy as Jamie Lloyd...

Debra Strode, played by Kim Darby....

And Kara Strode, played by Marianne Hagan....

And one of my favorite Shape's, George Wilbur...

Writer Daniel Farrands....

Composer, Alan Howarth....

Tom Proctor's head again and a mask used in the film...

And some miscellaneous shots of a couple panels....

  1. I've been curious about the interiors to the myers and blankenship houses. I heard at one time the interiors to both were used but one was actually the other on screen. Was curious if you knew. And yes, this is actually one of my favorite entries in the series!

    1. Good question, I'll ask someone who was there during the production to see.

    2. According to my friend that was on location at the time, he believes the Myers house interiors were shot at a different location (Mormon Army barracks, as I recall). The interior of Tommy Doyle's apartment (upstairs of Mrs. B's house) was actually shot inside of the Myers house exterior location.

  2. Thats cool. Any idea about where the bus depot scene was shot? I assume it was a practical location with the creepy downstairs bathroom. If I found myself at that bus stop and had to take a leak I think I'd just hold it!!

    1. I do not, but assume it's in the SLC city area and not part of the LA reshoots.

  3. Hi Robert. I worked as an extra on Halloween 6 back in October of 1994. I have noticed that no one online seems to know the correct location of "Haddonfield College." I was there that day and night of filming. The correct location is about 45 miles north of Salt Lake City in the City of Ogden. The filming took place in the parking lot, grass, and buildings that front the northeast intersection of Monroe Blvd and 20th Street. Other than one missing building, the location looks almost exactly the same. The outline of the missing building can be seen from Google Earth. The location of Barry's radio show stage is exactly as it was. The Ogden City School District offices currently are housed at the location.

  4. The location of Haddonfield Junior College was actually the Ogden School District, located at 1950 Monroe Blvd, Ogden, UT 84401

Despite the changes over the years, the layout of the buildings at Westminster College didn’t match the film so I came to the conclusion that it was filmed elsewhere.

    1. In the Theatrical cut it was filmed at the old Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles (now called The Dream Center).

In the Producer’s cut (where they get to the security gate) it was filmed at the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

  6. Does anyone know if any videos of the panel with Kim Darby and Janice Knickrehm exist?
