Enlightened (2011)

Laura Dern's new HBO show, Enlightened, caught my attention... and of course, had to quickly find a few of the key locations.    Her house was relatively easy to find....

Luke Wilson's apartment was out in Pasadena....

While I did go to her workplace, which is actually Warner Towers at 21600 Oxnard, I couldn't get the shots I wanted... without trespassing of course!

  2. Can you please explain the purpose of the rocks on the roof of her mother's house?

  3. I cannot, but a quick google search pulled some answers up here: http://blog.ounodesign.com/2010/03/11/rocks-on-the-roof/

  4. Which city is her house located in?

  5. None of the film location sites say where this great mid-century house is -- can say what part of LA?

  6. I use have an office in the Warner Towers in Woodland Hills, so I was curious when I saw them on the show, thinking my mind was playing tricks on me. But yeah, the guards get very persnickety when you try to take pictures of the area. Glad to see I wasn't wrong though.

  8. Does anyone know where the rehab center that Luke Wilson is at, is?

  9. the hills and gentle breezes made me instantly think LADERA, the air would not be this clear and the 50's houses not that high end anywhere in riverside. I thought the park the scene with the teary owen wilson scene might have been TORRANCE or Westchester, not sure though. Ddid I see "Anza" on a st sign? wilson's apt obviously high end 50's PAS, ONLY "the Dena" as those in the know would say, would have such high end multiunit from that era, with the possible acception of a few primo westside locals. Too bad all of LA didn't have that kind of construction, most of the apts were the boxes built chep , greeedy developers in the likes of Hawthorne.

    1. I agree with the air not being that clear in Riverside. The interior and backyard are so similar to my house which is in Riverside. It even has the same black tile in the entry way. Loved the references to the city of Riverside!

  14. Do you know what type of roof structure is on the house used as the residence? Are those rocks on the roof? This was a great series on HBO

  15. See earlier comments about the rocks rooftops.

  16. Wow, I'm impressed with your location finding skills! How do you usually find all of these places? I can see finding Warner Towers, but Levi's apartment building in Pasadena seems so random, especially since they don't show many clues or other markers in the show.

  17. Usually I just have a curb house number and try to figure out from there. The good thing about LA is that neighborhoods have a certain look to them and I start there, and just go searching the streets via Google.
