UPDATED! While John Carpenter was still in his prime, he directed Christine and made Stephen King's book into a pretty iconic film. Many of the locations in the film have been published, but I was always curious about the houses, particularly for Dennis and Arnie. For Arnie's house, I immediately recognize the brick wall across the street that is found quite a bit in the Pasadena area, particularly in Carpenter's Halloween. I assumed he liked that neighborhood and I was right, Arnie's house is just down the block from the "speed kills" street.

For Dennis' house, I scoured the Pasadena area, but not luck. I thought I'd try my hand at the other neighborhood Carpenter used in Halloween for the Doyle and Wallace house locations. And there it was! Dennis' house is on the same street at the Nightmare On Elm Street house, just a block down! (This house is also seen in a shot in the original Halloween.) These shots were taken a few years ago.
UPDATE #1: Dennis' house.... it went through some renovations. See below the before and after shots...
UPDATE #2: Leigh's house was finally located!

UPDATE June 2014: A quick revisit to the house for another movie...
UPDATE October 2013: While on my most recent travels, I decided to stop by and check out the liquor store....

UPDATE November 2013: Finally got around to checking out some of Moochie's demise locations....
Screenshots (yes, I was too lazy to crop!)....
The second part of the scene is a few miles away, however, on the day I was visiting that area was closed, but here is the area where Moochie emerges onto the street...

And the following is not my pic, but saw this on the web and had to share. Great shot of the gas station after filming...

A big no-thanks shout out to the Christine Car Club for not sharing the location addresses, I didn't need you anyways. :)
Just saw Arnie's house in a recent underwear commercial of all things! I've heard the Christine Car Club is difficult to deal with, have no idea why though.
ReplyDeleteFunny about Arnie's house, I'll have to keep a look out for it. The Christine Car Club doesn't want to give up locations, not sure why either; perhaps to protect the privacy of the occupants.
DeleteI bet that is the reason, people value their privacy, and maybe they swore not to tell...
ReplyDeleteThe scene where moochie encounters christine under the bridge is the old Pacific Electric Soto Street Bridge on Mission road in El Sereno. The bridge was demolished in 2014
