Maniac (2012)
Check out the all new MANIAC page at SET-JETTER.COM
Must be nearing Halloween since I'm posting all these horror movies. The remake of Maniac is a slick version of the original, updated to new century, and shot mostly in point-of-view style. For the most part, the movie works, although the hardest part to truly buy is that little Elijah Wood has the ability to overpower anyone standing over 5' tall. But actually, he does pretty well in the part, even though his onscreen time is pretty limited.
The movie was shot mostly in downtown Los Angeles. Nearly every street corner is shown at some point, since there is a lot of driving montages, but I'll focus on the main locations. First up, is the opening scene where Frank (Elijah Wood) follows a woman down the street....
Next up, is the exterior of Frank's store, which was shuttered at the time of my visit...

You actually see more from the view looking outside the store and across the street....

Next, Frank follows another woman onto the train, and through the station...

Outside of the station, he corners her in a parking lot....

Next up is the studio where Anna is putting on her show...

Frank and Anna go to a movie at the theatre just down the street....

Just up the street from that location is another spot where Frank has a flashback to his childhood...

After the Anna's opening, Frank follows her agent down the street....

And then follows her to the condo...

Near the end, Anna escapes near the alley next to his boutique shop....

Frank chases Anna. This first spot is actually the same area where Madonna shot her Borderline video....

There are a few artistic shots of Anna running down the tunnel...

Then follows her to another area used in many films and shows, most notably for the series finale of 24...

And here is me and the maniac himself, Elijah Wood....
