Raising Hope - on the set!

By extreme luck, good timing, and a very kind man, I was able to get on the Raising Hope set this past Halloween when they were filming the Christmas episode.   It was pretty surreal and a lot of fun to walk the sets and watch them film a few scenes.

Before I get any further, I'll post these pics first.   While we got to see the entire cast, I had the good fortune to chat with my crush Lucas Neff and the icon Cloris Leachman.

Okay...on to the sets.... the house is completely built on all sides with many removable walls.   Many of the photos are kind of dark as they were on lunch break and no flash photography was allowed!

Some of the living room....

The kitchen.....

The bedrooms....

The backyard and greenhouse....

And off to Howdy's Supermarket.....

From Howdy's looking towards the house set....

Here is the crew constructing the theatre for the episode.....

And the lawyer's office used in the episode....

Some miscellaneous behind the scenes props from various episodes.....

And as always, a visit to the house used for exterior shots.....

  3. Hey Robert so they only use that house when they want to shoot outside?

  4. Correct, if they need the street and front yard, they go to the location, but if they just need the front porch, they can mostly do that on set.

    1. No, I had special permission. However, you can sometimes visit sets when they're on location and not being obtrusive. You can always check onlocationvacations.com to check out what's filming near you.

  12. Very cool! I live in Chatsworth and walk by the main indoor set building all the time. Saw Martha sitting outside her trailer in the pink maid outfit the other day. Now that I now what houses are used in the area, I'm gonna have to go for a walk! :D

  16. Is the set floorplan based on the exterior house? Is it possible to get the floorplan?

    1. I'm not sure, but likely so. Pilot episodes are typically shot on-location and sets aren't built until it's picked up by the network. From looking at the pilot, it appears the layout is the same.
