For Poltergeist II: The Other Side, they needed an empty lot to stand in for where the house had disappeared from the first film (see that location in Simi Valley here.) They didn't travel too far, just over to Chatsworth -- and also just a stone's throw from Charlie Manson's ranch! The houses on the street do not look much different, and the empty lot of course is gone and is a paved road up the hill. (For those interested in Grandma Jess' house, click here!)
