For Poltergeist II: The Other Side, they needed an empty lot to stand in for where the house had disappeared from the first film (see that location in Simi Valley herehttp://movielocationsandmore.blogspot.com/2013/11/poltergeist-1982.html.) They didn't travel too far, just over to Chatsworth -- and also just a stone's throw from Charlie Manson's ranch! The houses on the street do not look much different, and the empty lot of course is gone and is a paved road up the hill. (For those interested in Grandma Jess' house, click here!)
