A great sequel to When A Stranger Calls, the follow-up, When A Stranger Calls Back, was a great tense film. In my opinion, the opening scene of the sequel outscares the original. Shot in Vancouver, I did my best to track down many of the film's locations....
First up, the college campus Julie attends (Jill Schoelen)...

The University of British Columbia also shows up in another scene....

The police department....

Julia's apartment...

The apartment across the street gets some screen-time of it's own....

The grocery store where Jill (Carol Kane) is stalked....

One of the alleys I believe is used where Charles Durning confronts the killer...

And finally, one of my favorite location finds, the house from the chilling opening scene....

The great Carol Kane!
One of my all time favorite movie. Great job on the research!!!
ReplyDeleteAny chance on letting me know the location of the intro house as well as her apartment? I live in North Vancouver so wondering if they're in the vicinity.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
The house is at 1189 Matthews Ave and the apartment is at 1245 Nicola St.
DeleteNot sure if that first message got through but thanks a lot Robert. I really appreciate the info. :)
DeleteWow. Thanks for all the work you put in on this! Great, under-rated movie.
ReplyDeletePS Any idea if they actually filmed inside that house, or were the internal shots a studio? I'm guessing with the budget it was the actual house that was filmed.
ReplyDeleteI think they did, I almost went up to the door to ask, but did not.... next time!
DeleteCool, thanks for the reply. An update would be great if you could get a look inside.
DeleteI just watched the intro scene again and I'm pretty sure it was the house, too, as they pan from the stairs to the living room. That would've been really expensive to build. Also the lighting is consistent with lighting an actual house on that budget. Some pretty dark spots in places and they were shooting on max 500 ASA film back then.
